I became a lawyer because order and rationality have always been at the core of who I am.

I became a trial lawyer because of the power of ideas and reason to make a difference in people's lives.

Since 1983 I have been privileged to litigate cases in more than half of the states in the union, taking cases to verdict in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Kentucky, New York, Florida, and Georgia. I have settled cases after litigation in the District of Columbia, Delaware, Missouri, Ohio, Illinois, New Jersey, Alabama, and Mississippi. My trial work has also taken me to South Carolina, California, Texas, Louisiana, Colorado, Oklahoma, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Arkansas, and Wisconsin.

I am a member of the Virginia State Bar and am regularly admitted to practice before nine federal district courts in Virginia, Pensylvania, New York and Ohio. My appellate work includes cases in the United States Supreme Court, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, both of Virginia's appellate courts and several cases in appeals courts outside of Virginia.

 

At heart, I am a trial lawyer, having taken more than 175 jury cases to verdict and handled hundreds of bench trials and administrative hearings. And, as you can see from the banner quotes on these pages, I believe in fighting for my clients.
